Mr. Don Payne Gilbert, 80, of Murray, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at his home. Mr. Gilbert was born on January 9, 1938 in Paducah, KY to the late Warden Gilbert and Ann Folwell Gilbert. Don had deep ties to the Murray community. He graduated from Murray High School in 1956 and attended Murray State College as well. He operated as proprietor of the Triangle Inn Restaurant and was a member of The Kentucky Lake Bass Club, local Gun Club, Murray Moose Lodge and First United Methodist Church. He was an avid sportsman and guide around Kentucky Lake which he loved dearly. He later moved to Nashville, TN where he worked in the hospitality industry for 30 years, even appearing on the Travel Channel show, "Hotel Impossible" as facilities manager for The Fiddler's Inn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Payne Gilbert. Surviving him is a son, Don Bert Gilbert of Murray; two daughters, Denice Reed (Shannon) of Pueblo, CO and Marianne Gilbert Curry (Craig) of Galena, OH; eight grandchildren, Travis Reed, Wesley Reed, Jackson Reed, Justin Gilbert, Megan Gilbert, Marin Curry, Leo Curry and Layne Curry and several cousins. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray.
