Hattie Nellis, 74, of Murray, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
Hattie was born March 16, 1941 in Poland to the late Walter and Anna Pozdyn. Originally from Lockport, Illinois, she worked as a bartender at Ballengers. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was of the Catholic faith. After leaving Lockport, Hattie moved to Murray in 2011.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Nellis Jr.; one brother, Joe Pozdyn and two sisters, Marry Buchannan and Helen Lem.
Hattie is survived by four children, Jeanie Lindsey (Cliff) of Murray, Jeff Nellis of South Carolina, Jay Nellis of Vermont and Justine Burke (Tim) of Romeoville, Illinois; two brothers, John Pozdyn (Martha) of Citrus Heights, California, Edward Pozdyn (Patricia) of New York; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A private memorial service is being planned for a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Spring Creek Health Care for their exceptional professionalism and care for Hattie while she was a resident there.
