Mr. Joe Bob Brewer, 77, of Calvert City, formerly of Murray, passed away on September 8, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, TN.

Joe Bob was born in Murray, KY on August 2, 1941 to the late J.C. Brewer and Geraldine Barnett Brewer.  He will be remembered for many things but most certainly for his proven leadership, speed and ability on the Murray High Football field.  He played on the 1959 West KY All Star football team and was inducted into the Murray High School Football Hall of Fame. At the end of his high school career, Joe Bob was offered scholarships by 11 universities, several of which were in the SEC.  He decided to stay in his hometown and was and was given a scholarship to play football at Murray State University.  While at MSU, he was in the second pledge class of Sigma Chi Fraternity along with his close, childhood friend, Mr. Bill Young.  Joe Bob was also named "Best All Around" during his years at Murray High School.  Mr. Brewer proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of Murray Masonic Lodge 105 and throughout his life he had a career in the Business/Finance Industry in Paducah, KY. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Barnett Brewer.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Della Brewer of Calvert City; two nephews, Jere Brewer (Vivian) of Cabot, AR, Kyle Glenn Fisher of Sea Brook, TX; two nieces, Marsha Joann Cox of League City, TX, Barbara Gayle Funderburg (Cary) of Baycliff, TX; and special, childhood friend, Mr. Bill Young of Kuttawa.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Joe Bob Brewer is set for 7 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray.  Masonic Rites will take place at 6:45 PM.  Sammy Cunningham will officiate.

His family will receive visitors from 5-6:45 PM at the Heritage Chapel.

The Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
