Virgil Holt, 76, of Paducah passed away at 8:56 AM Friday, May 15, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah.
He was a self-made business man who throughout his life owned and operated Paducah Pools and Spas, Paducah Select Auto Sales, a spa manufacturing plant in Smyrna, TN, a local Land Developer, and Real Estate Investor. He was known by many, loved and admired by all that knew him. He could be picked out of a crowd with his beautiful head of white hair and warm, welcoming smile. He loved his family dearly, as we did him. He always worked hard and was a wonderful provider for his family. He also had a love for antique, classic, and street rodded automobiles which extended into a large collection of motorized vehicles.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Miller) Holt of Reidland; one daughter, Paula Kay Damron and husband Allen of LaCenter; one son, Mike Holt and wife Tammy of Lone Oak; one sister, Roselee Guess of Reidland; brothers, Jimmy Hutchins of Pleasant View, TN and Wayne Hutchins of Evansville, IN; brother-in-law, Jerry Miller of Paducah; granddaughter, Makayla Brooke Holt of Lone Oak; grandson, Michael Blake Holt and wife Lauren of Lone Oak; great-granddaughter, Maklayne Grace Holt; two step grandchildren, Greg and Mieghan Damron; two step great-grandchildren, Korbyn and Kai Damron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Elsie (Sullivan) Holt; a sister, Dorris Weatherford; and a brother, L.D. Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Drew Gray and Rev. Homer Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
