Mr. Wavil Joseph, 96 of Benton, Kentucky died on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton, Kentucky. He was a lifelong farmer and member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Joseph was also a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II.
Born Monday, June 17, 1918 in Calloway Co., Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ira Joseph and Lala (Treas) Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Marie (Burd) Joseph of Benton, KY; sons, David Joseph, wife Edith of Benton, KY and Dennis Joseph, wife Ronecca of Benton, KY, daughter, Susan Shemwell, husband Gary of Benton, KY; 7 grandchildren, Abbey Kelly, Brian Shemwell, Brittany Triplett, Austin Joseph, Blair Joseph, Crystal Teckenbrock, Jennifer Cloninger; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 step grandchildren; and 7 step great grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025 with Rev. Mark Thweatt officiating.
Interment with military rites will follow in Cole Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
