William Ben Martin age 78, of Calvert City formerly of Bardwell, KY, passed away at 4:30am Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Calvert City Convalescent Center.  Mr. Martin was an farmer for many years in Carlisle Co.  From 1984 to 1990 he owned and operated a restaurant in Cunningham, KY,  In 1990 he was elect as the Carlisle County Sheriff, serving two terms until 1997.  During his time as Sheriff, one of his greatest achievements was getting his office affiliated with the Western Area Narcotic Task Force.  After two terms as Sheriff, he severed as Deputy Jailer for Ballard County for 11 years.  He was as  Carlisle County Magistrate for many years and an active member of KY Farm Bureau as well as a member of Mississippi Baptist Church. He was also proud to serve his country in the United Stated Marine Corp.

 

He is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Kaye Gorham Martin of Calvert City , KY., formerly of Bardwell, six daughters; Cindy Martin of Paducah, KY., Donna McGee and husband Steve  of Mayfield, KY., Anita Dowdy and husband Bobby of Wingo, KY., Grace Neal and husband Steve of Benton, KY., Fran Smith and husband Bobby of Calvert City, KY. and Raula Rodriguez of Calvert City, KY.,  one son, Michael Martin and Wife Jamie of Unionsville, IN.,  thirteen grandchildren; Joe Ben Hogancamp of Bardwell, KY., Ginger Hogancamp of Paducah, KY., Ashlynne Lynch of Clinton, KY., Darien Martin of Bardwell, KY., Joe Rosales of Colorado, Tony and Tommy Rosales of Texas, Reynaldo Rosales of California, Michael Dowdy of Paducah, Michael Oliver of Kirksey, KY., Vicki Noles of Benton, KY., Jessica and Derek Smith of Calvert City, KY., and twenty-nine great grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lola Cone Martin, one granddaughter, Marsha Hogancamp, and one sister, Emma Jean Martin Copeland.

 

Funeral services for Will Ben Martin will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Bardwell. Mark Burnett and Rocky James will officiate.  Burial with military rites will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held after 10:00 am Saturday May 28, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell
