Mary Amilda Schmitt, 91, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 9:05 am Friday, February 5, 2016 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She retired from Southern Textile after 43 years of service.
Amilda was born in McCracken County on March 13, 1924 to Louis and Hallie Kaufman. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a very loving, caring, giving person who took great joy in helping others.
She is survived by her daughter in law, Linda Job Schmitt, of Paducah, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Norbert Anthony Schmitt; one son, Terry Louis Schmitt; four sisters, Adelean Poat, Jeanette Englert, Helen Marie Krimple, and her twin sister, Hilda Wurth; and one brother, Louis Kaufman, Jr. Her parents were Louis Kaufman, Sr. and Hallie Grief Kaufman.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Fr. Brad Whistle officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, February 8, 2016, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Prayers will begin at 7:00 pm.
