Andres ‘Andy’ Villarreal, 83, entered into the eternal rest of Jesus Christ, May 14, 2013. Andy was born in Brownsville, TX and was predeceased by his parents, Inez and Jose Cruz Villarreal and brother, Jose Villarreal. He moved to Paducah, KY in 2002, to live with his sisters, Concha Villarreal and Lydia Leonard, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Connie Bielke of Corpus Christi, TX and Inez Rush of Williston, VT. He leaves loving memories to be cherished by multi-generational nieces and nephews, including, Dr. Larry and Laura Skinner and their children Blair, Michelle, Nathan, Wesley and Carey of Paducah. Also included in Andy’s extended family are his former caregiver, Alice Grimes and the staff members of Superior Care Home of Paducah with whom he shared the last five years of his life.
Andy was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, served as a sacristan for Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph parishes and where he was also active in the Knights of Columbus.
A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with burial to follow in Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville, TX. Darling-Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville, TX are in charge of arrangements.
Andy lived a life of humility and enjoyed his work for many years at a small drugstore in Brownsville and later for the State of Texas as security and maintenance for Brownsville High School. He maintained a devotion to church and daily mass for most of his active life. This verse from Proverbs 22:4 summarizes Andy’s life, “By humility and fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life.”
