Beulah “V” Beard, 89, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Superior Care Home.

Beulah, affectionately known as “V”, was born in the Cuba area of Graves County on May 13, 1929 to Owen and Jennie Griffith Gross.  She graduated from Cunningham High School and received her cosmetology license shortly thereafter.  For many years, “V’s Beauty Parlor” was her source of joy and she made many lifelong friends out of her customers.   She was given the personality traits of never meeting a stranger and being very talkative, both of which served her well in an occupation for which she was grateful.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a primary Sunday School Teacher.  After retirement, her grandchildren became her life’s mission, and she followed her family to First Baptist Church-Paducah.  An avid exerciser, “V” walked five miles each day and also exercised with her church friends as well as joining them for book study.

She is survived by two daughters, Glynda (Bill) Ross and Jenny (Bobby) Jones, all of Paducah.  “Mimi” leaves behind grandchildren, Cory (Aaron) Sharrard of Lexington, KY., Brett Jones of Naples, FL., Nicholas “Nick” Jones of Paducah, KY; great-grandchildren, Ruby Sharrard and Corinne Sharrard; and sister-in-law, Lucille Beard of Ft. Mill, S.C.

“V” was preceded in death by her husband, Glyn Beard; siblings, Wanda Sue Routen, Dean Cook, and James Gross; sister-in-law, Verba Gross; and brothers-in-law, J.W. Routen and James Lee Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Mike Nolen officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 3140 Parisa Drive, Paducah, KY 42003 or McCracken County Humane Society, 4000 Coleman Road, Paducah, KY 42001.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Superior Care Home for the extraordinary care they provided.  In addition, “V” spent most winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.  June Haar, Richard Statler, and Helen Joy Myers became her “Florida family” and she loved them dearly.
