Bobby Gene Barnes passed away peacefully at 7:04 A.M. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 81.  Bob was born on his grandparents farm in Hampton, KY (Livingston County) on Hampton Hill.  Bob was a member of Heartland Worship Center, Woodman Life and NRA.  He started working at a young age at Turner’s Grocery on 2nd street, in Paducah, then Krey Packing Company out of St. Louis, MO and eventually he retired from GAF in Calvert City.  He was known for the soft tune he always whistled and his kind heart.  Bob married the love of his life, and best friend, Stella Lamar Barnes in 1954.  Together they enjoyed working on projects on their McCracken County farm.  In 1972, he was honored to receive soil conservationist of the year for his farming efforts.

Bobby was an avid UK basketball fan, and enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of his farm, and working in his shop.  Bob could fix anything.  Bob loved his country, always wanted to purchase American made products, and was proud to be an American.  However, he viewed his family as his greatest earthly treasure.  As his family grew with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he shared his love, wisdom, and work ethic with them until his last days.  Today his family rests in the knowledge that he is most assuredly whistling with the angels.

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Stella May Lamar Barnes; three sons, Bobby Joe Barnes and wife, Natalie, Roger Barnes  and wife Lisa, both of Paducah, KY and  Douglas Barnes  and wife Beverly of Smithland, KY; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Hopper, Greg (Steven) Barnes, Tim (Danielle) Barnes, Shay (Robert) Morgan, Ross (Lydia) Barnes, Laura (Luke) Richardson; 12 great-grandchildren;  one brother, Mike Barnes, Sturgis, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Boyce Taylor Barnes & Marie Bell Barnes Noffsinger; brother, Mural Barnes.

Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Kenneth Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
