Chester William “Billy” Hack, 95, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 8:14 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the McCracken Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah. He graudated from the Southeastern High School in Detroit, Michigan and George Meany School of Labor in Washington, D.C.. Billy became a Building Tradesman in 1941. He has benn an officer of Iron Workers Local Union #782 for 35 years and served as Business Manager until his retirement. He was past President of the West Kentucky Building and Construction Trades Council, Co-Chairman of the BOLT Committee and trustee on the St. Louis Distric Council Welfare and Pension Fund. Billy served as a Delagate with the Building Trades and the AFL-CIO Area Council. He served as trustee of the Union Housing Management for Senior Citizens, Baord of Directors of the Jackson House and the W.B. Sanders Retirement Center. He had served on the board of the Greater Paducah Industrial Association. Billy is a member and Past Junior Commander of Disabled American Veterans and was a member of Paducah Masonic Lodge #127 F&AM.

 

He was also actively participated in organizing and donating much union labor in the building of numerous charitable and civic buildings including the JC Civic Center, Crippled Children’s Home, Easter Seal Center, Fraternal Order of Police, Oscar Cross Boys Club and others. He has worked diligently in promoting good relations between organized labor and the business community of Western Kentucky. Billy was inducted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and flew with the 8th Air Force in Europe and received numerous decorations while flying as Togglier and Gunner. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Air Medal and three clusters, European Compaign Medal with three Bronze Stars.

 

Billy is survived by his daughter, Patricia Dupree and husband George of Paducah, Kentucky; sons, Donald Hack and wife Darlene of Paducah, Kentucky, Kenneth Hack of Calvert City, Kentucky, Wayne Hack of Paducah, Kentucky and Chester Hack, Jr. and wife Susan of Paducah, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Edna Bolen Hack and 2 grandchildren. His parents were Chester Hack and Anna Rice Hack Campbell.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Calvert City Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. unitl 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m..
