Mrs. Dorothy “Dotty” Gregory, age 95, of Metropolis, IL, died on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Southgate Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gregory installed gas lines in B-24 Bombers at the Willow Run Bomber Plant during WWII. After the war, she worked as a phone operator. Dotty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Metropolis.
Dotty is survived by her children, James Gregory and wife Gayla, Don Gregory and wife Patti and Cindy Clayton and life long friend Jeff Clayton; nine grandchildren, Lance Gregory and wife Trena, Dain Gregory and wife Kellen, Melanie Talbert and husband Ryan, Michael Gregory and wife Connie, Samantha Neal and husband Cory, Mallory Hodge and husband Vince, Kelsey Dresser and husband Cody, Candy Brewer, and Mandy Brewer; 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lora (Jackson) Moore; husband, Marshall Gregory; one granddaughter, Cammy (Gregory) Colby; two sisters, Alma Osborne and Halene Wynn; three brothers, Roy Moore, Harry Moore, and Owen Moore.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 6 until 8 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church Building Fund 307 Massac Creek Road Metropolis, IL 62960.
