Dorothy Irene McNeely, 88, of Paducah, KY and formerly of Evansville, IN passed away at 11:45 Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah. She was born December 16, 1930 in Evansville, IN to Earl and Anna (Wilhelm) McNeely.
Dorothy was a graduate of Indiana University where she received her Principal’s Certificate and her Master’s in Physical Education. She was also a graduate of the University of Evansville where she received her Bachelors of Music Education and minor in Physical Education. Dorothy taught Physical Education in the Evansville Public School System from 1955-1959. She taught for 30 plus years for the Escuela Campo Alegre where she was the head of the Physical Education Department and spent time teaching in Avenda, Caracas, Venezuela. She attended the Unitarian Church in Evansville.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Lois Skipworth of Paducah, KY; brother, John (Darla) McNeely of Olympia, WA. She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Anna (Wilhelm) McNeely; brother, David McNeely and a niece, Deborah McNeely.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date with burial at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, IN.
