Dr. James V. Hennessy, age 88, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Southgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Hennessy was a native of St. Louis, MO. He started working at Frisco Railroad as an office boy during WWII. He worked for the railroad for twenty two years and retired as an Assistant Manager of Data Processing. Dr. Hennessy was Community Service Coordinator at Paducah Community College and was eventually named Dean of Academic Affairs. He did theatre work at Paducah Community College, the Market House Theatre and Brelco. Dr. Hennessy was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, a KY Colonel and volunteered at Lourdes Hospital and the Quilt Museum.
Dr. Hennessy is survived by a step daughter, Susan Harasty and husband Dan of Freehold, NJ; step son, Michael O’Leary III and wife Susan of Shorewood, IL; eight step grandchildren; several step great- grandchildren; niece, Mary Ann Neu of IL; nephew, Stephen Sheehan of MO; caregiver, Cathy Trussell of Paducah, KY.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Aldrich O’Leary Hennessy; step son, Timothy Hennessy; two sisters and five brothers. His parents were, Michael Stephen Hennessy and Mary Etta Mackey Hennessy.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Brad Whistle and Deacon Terry Larbes officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour of 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Church. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mounds, IL.
