Ebith Stubblefield Mercer, age 98, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

 

Ebith was a Paducah native, a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, and a member of Broadway United Methodist Church.  In the past, she was active in the Paducah Women’s Club and various social organizations.  She loved her family, her home, and her friends.  She greatly enjoyed her bridge groups, with some of the groups playing together for as many as 50 years.  She and her late husband, John Mercer, who were married for 77 years, enjoyed many years of traveling, boating, and camping.  She will be fondly remembered for her cooking skills, especially her homemade pies, which were much in demand.

 

She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia Barnett and  husband Steve, of Denver, Colorado, and Carol Polk and husband Harvey, of Calvert City, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Debbie Johnson, Leslie Cutter and Jon Polk; ten great-grandchildren; her sister Virginia Wilson, of Georgetown, TX.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mercer; her parents, Oakley Mason Stubblefield and Lottie Lawrence Stubblefield.

 

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Rev. Lora Jean Gowan officiating.

There will be no visitation.
