Martha Ellen Barnes Chesnut, 68, of Kevil, formerly of Paducah, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Ellen was born in Alva, Oklahoma on September 25, 1946. She was a longtime member of both McCracken County and Ballard County Homemaker’s Clubs. She had worked at both Whaler’s Catch and Pines Restaurant. Ellen had worked in the Admissions Office at Western Baptist Hospital until her retirement, then volunteered with Western Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of First Baptist Church La Center.
Surviving are her two daughters, Rhonda McCafferty and husband William of Croydon, PA, and Alisa Downing and husband Chris of Kevil, KY; grandchildren, William McCafferty III and Ellen Catherine Downing; step father, Russell Tilley of Wickliffe, KY; sister, Margaret “Midge” Miller and husband Archie of Arrington, TN; and brother, Larry Barnes and wife Pat of Edmond, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Chesnut; son, William Paul Chesnut; father, Jerome Calvin Barnes; mother, Margaret Goucher Tilley; and brothers, Mike Barnes and Leslie Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Chris Downing and Rev. Mark Sickling officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
