Elsie Terrell Block McCutchen, 98, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 10:50 P.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
Elsie was born on November 4, 1920 in Paducah, Kentucky to Edward and Annie Terrell. She was a 1938 graduate of Lone Oak High School. Upon graduation she was hired by Southern Bell, which became South Central Bell and then Bell South, where she retired after 43 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the oldest member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Guild.
Mrs. McCutchen is survived by her daughters, Barbara Block Palmer (Bruce), Paula Block Hite (Bill), all of Paducah; her step-sons, Bennett McCutchen (Vivian), of Fresno, California, Allen McCutchen, of Clovis, California; her grandchildren, Chris Colson (Ginger), Tracey Terrell Colson, Holly Warren Beck (Michael), Lara Palmer Langvardt (Mitch), Kelley McCutchen, Jim McCutchen, Brandon McCutchen (Vivian), Bryan McCutchen (Amber); seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Mrs. McCutchen was preceded in death by her husband, George Schmidt Block; her second husband, Charles Allen McCutchen; her parents, Edward Cleveland Terrell and Annie Greif Terrell; her sisters, Eva Marie Marshall, Pauline “Polly” Terrell Davis; her brothers, Harry Edward Terrell, Joseph Freeland “Bill” Terrell, Paul Terrell; two grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Appold and Rev. Paul Donner officiating. Burial will follow at Beyer Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the church.
