Charles Glenn Hook, age 97, of Paducah, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 12:10 am.

 

Mr. Hook lived a very exciting and interesting life.  He was a member of the Army Air Corp and was a test pilot for Howard Hughes, where he piloted the “Spruce Goose”.  He qualified for the US Olympic Boxing Team  in 1940, but the Olympics were cancelled that year due to WWII.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and served for many years as President of the McCracken County Sportsman’s Club.  He was the owner of Water Conditioning Inc. and received a B.S. in Agriculture from Murray State University.  Mr. Hook was a longtime member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

 

Glenn Hook is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Owen Hook; one daughter, Donna Schmidt of West Paducah; one son Larry Hook of Topeka, KS and four grandchildren, Rhonda G. Heidtbrink, Christopher D. Miller, Aaron F. Hook, and Diane E. Hook and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Mr. Hook is preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca Gholson Hook and Sam Hook and a sister, Norma Jean Taylor and brother Harold Hook.

 

Visitation for Glenn Hook will be Sunday October 23, 2016 from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with funeral services at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Stan Reid will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
