Herman Joseph Yopp, 90, of Paducah, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital.
A lifelong native of McCracken County, Herman was born on July 7, 1922 to the late Walter and Myrtle Luigs Yopp. Herman was a lifelong farmer who farmed the same fields as his father and grandfather. He was the oldest living Yopp male in his family. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was the caretaker of St. John's Cemetery for over 35 years. He was also a longtime member of Farm Bureau and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Surviving are his sisters, Hilda Wurth and Dorothy Estes both of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by twin sisters, Velma and Thelma Yopp; a brother, Raymond Yopp; and his parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 pm at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home, and prayers will begin at 7pm.
