Ira William “Bill” Myers, 87, of Paducah, died Monday at Superior Care Home.

Bill was born in Lovelaceville, KY on July 27, 1925 to the late Harry “Skip” and Vivian Burrow Myers. Bill was a 1943 graduate of Kevil High School then served in the United States Navy. After his enlistment, Bill attended college at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, Murray State College and University of Kentucky. He taught school in Graves County before his long employment and eventual retirement from Martin Marietta. Farming was his avocation. In addition, he was an avid square dancer and in his younger years, enjoyed boating and water skiing. He was a former deacon at Lovelaceville Baptist Church before becoming a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Paducah.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorris Williams Myers; two sons, W. Douglas Myers (wife, Jan) of Hopkinsville and H. Dennis Myers (wife, Cathy) of Paducah; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Myers (husband, Brant Poling) of Columbus, OH, William Douglas Myers, Jr. of Hopkinsville, Dr. Jordan Prendergast (husband, Dr. Mark Prendergast) of Lexington, Robert Perry Myers of Hopkinsville, Kathryn Denise Myers of Paducah, and William Taylor Myers of Paducah; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, H. Kenneth Meyers of Apopka, FL; and a special cousin, Lisa Henderson (husband, Bill) of Paducah.

Memorial visitation for Bill will be held Friday, August 31st, from 4-6 pm at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. Kenneth J. Meyers officiating. At Bill’s request, his body is being donated to the University of Kentucky Medical School for educational purposes.
