James O. Burkeen, age 92, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 6:05 pm Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
James was a member of Reidland United Methodist Church and the Retired SCS/NRC State and National Societies. He was a 1947 graduate of Murray State University with a Bachlors degree in Argiculture. James was employed as a teacher in the Veterans on Farm Training Program in Trigg County and Fulton County, KY and was employed by the U.S. Soil Conversation Service for 30 years serving in McCracken County District Conservationist for 26 years.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Arnett Burkeen; son, James McKinley Burkeen of Murrieta, CA; grandchildren, Nicolas and Leila Burkeen of Murrieta, CA; sister-n-law, Sue Enoch Burkeen of Lexington, KY; six nieces; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leon Burkeen, Leonard Burkeen, Emmett Burkeen and Eugene Burkeen; sister-n-laws, Mary Workman Burkeen, Martha Nall Burkeen, Alice Ray Arnett, Adna Burkeen; parents, Ed and Bertha Lamb Burkeen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Glen Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Murray City Cemetery in Murray, KY.
Vistiation will be held from 9:00 am until the service time of 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
