Mary Alice Hutchison Henderson, 80, of Metropolis went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:43am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Baptist Health in Paducah.

Mary was born on January 18, 1937, during the flood. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Joppa Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1968 graduate of the Western Baptist School of Nursing. During her nursing career, she worked at Western Baptist Hospital, but devoted most of her career to caring for the elderly working for many years at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.  She was very dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also a lover of all animals, birds, and wildlife.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Michael Henderson; four daughters, Julie Finke and husband John of Paducah, Susie Dunn and husband Chris of Metropolis, Lesa Welch and husband Jeff of Metropolis, Mary Evans of Metropolis; two sons, Butch Lichtenberg and wife Lori of Calvert City, and David Tolbert of Metropolis; one step-daughter, Delane Hooks of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren, Amy Krueger and husband Bryan, Ryan Oliver and wife Rachel, Paul Spann, Stuart Lichtenberg and wife Ann, Payne Lichtenberg and wife Kasey, Ashley McAlister and husband Jesse, Kaylee Knight, Mandy Robbins and husband Allan, Jessica Jenkins and husband Wesley, Sarah Welch-Smith, Jeremy Evans and wife Keri, and Mary Nicole (Nikki) Evans; and 19 great-grandchildren, Jenna Krueger, Caroline Krueger, Maddox Oliver, Tate Oliver, Gavin Spann, Kallie Spann, Katie Spann, Neal Lichtenberg, Olivia Robbins, Jackson Robbins, Taylor Jenkins, Madalynn Jenkins, Lexi Smith, Belle Smith, Lani Kate Welch, Shelby Parker, Iris Evans, Mary Beth Burrus, and Aaron Cruz Evans-Corry; two brothers, Claude Hutchison of Paducah and wife Sue, and Odie Hutchison and wife Sandra of Brookport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude L. and Mary Elizabeth Hutchison; one infant son; infant great-granddaughter, Chloe Danielle Smith; and a special son-in-law, Jerry P. Welch.

Memorial services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. David Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens at a later date.
