Paducah | Jan. 10, 1949 | Jul. 25, 2020

Nathaniel McGee, age 71, of Paducah, KY left his earthly home on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at 10:51 p.m., at Mercy Health Lourdes.  He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Barney and Mildred McGee; his brother, Charles McGee; his brother, James McGee; his sister, Shirley McGee; his sister, Barbara Clark; his son, Dean M. Tyler; his son, Edmund L. Tyler; and the late Betty J. Tyler (lifelong love), all who await his arrival with open arms.

Nathaniel was a spiritual man.  He was a faithful member of Temple of Faith, where he served as a beloved deacon.

Nathaniel graduated from Lincoln High School in Paducah, KY.  After high school he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the time of the Vietnam War.

In his earlier years, Nathaniel was most known for his role as a security guard at the Executive Inn and with the Paducah Housing Authority.  In this role he met and friended many people.  His warm and kind personality made a lasting impression on most of the people that he would meet.  Nathaniel also enjoyed playing softball at Blackburn Park, riding motorcycles with his brother Charlie and was an avid Steelers fan.

Nathaniel was a devout and proud family man. Family was most important to him and with whom he spent the majority of his time.  His home was always filled with love and family.  He was well known, deeply loved, and respected by many.  He was the “neighborhood granddad,” lovingly referred to as “Pops.”  He always took care of people, was always willing to do what he could, always sharing, always caring, always eager to help and always welcoming of everyone.   He would greet you with a warm smile or a plate of greens or some bbq fresh off the grill.  His friendliness and welcoming spirit knew no bounds.  He loved kids, and particularly adored his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.  Nathaniel had a fighting spirit which became more evident during his bout with colon cancer, as he became a cancer survivor.  Nathaniel was a peaceful man; he wasn’t one to hold grudges and he always maintained a calm spirit.  Nathaniel had a big heart and a wonderful personality, always willing to offer a listening ear.  He was your family; he was your friend.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Nathaniel leaves behind to cherish memories of him: his siblings, his sister, Dorothy McGee of Paducah, KY; his brother, Gene McGhee of Champaign, IL; his sister, Mary McGee of Paducah, KY; his brother, Dwain McGee of Paducah, KY; his children, his son, Rome M.E. Tyler of Paducah, KY; his son, Magic R. Priddy of Paducah, KY; his son, D’Shon J. Fitzgerald of Nashville, TN; and his daughter, Latevia Priddy of Louisville, KY; special sons, who were three of his grandchildren that he raised, a son, Quentin Woods of Paducah, KY; a son, Devonte Woods of Paducah, KY; a son, Cedric Hamilton of Nashville, TN; and many, many dearly loved and cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
