O. H. Shelton Jr., age 95, passed away at Parkview Rehab & Nursing on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 3:00 am.
He was a native of Paducah, born to Orlando and Sally Shelton on July 15, 1917. During his working years he was employed with Kolb Brothers Drug Company, managed Ritz Sundry Store and worked in sales for United Home Furnishings. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah for Seventy years. A skilled and avid golfer, O. H. won the Paducah City Golf Championship several years and won the 1938 championship which later became known as the Irvin S. Cobb. He played in the first foursome at the dedication of Paxton Park.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Martha Jane Daniel Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Sally Tucker Shelton; his sisters, Anne Shelton Keeton and Betty Shelton Steinfeld; his brothers, W. M. (Bill) and E. P. Shelton.
A graveside service for Mr. Shelton will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 1:30 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 Tuesday, prior to interment, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Rev. Tommy Tucker will officiate.
