Ray F. McCarty age 90, passed away Monday, November, 24, 2014 at 2:50 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah with his family at his side.  He professed his faith in God at an early age and was an active member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.   He was a retired KY State Policeman where he served six years in McCracken County and 23 years at Post 1 as Commander in charge with rank as Captain.  After retirement Ray had plenty  of time for fishing that he so enjoyed. 

 

Ray was born September 17, 1924 in Hickman, KY  to the late John Allie & Edna Marie Brown McCarty.  He attended Western High School and was Valedictorian and President of his Senior Class.  He was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1943, received his basic training in FL and then spent time in England and France  as part of the 61st Combat Engineers.  Ray was assigned to the Quartermaster Trucking Company to keep supplies to the front line and especially to General Patton.  He was discharged in 1945  and spent time in Berlin and was awarded 6 decorations for his time spent in military.

 

Survivors include wife, Linda Faye Hall McCarty, two daughters, Donna Kay McCarty and Felicia Ann Cornwell (Michael) all of Paducah, KY, one step-son, Jeffrey Parker, Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Shanna Cornwell, Tony Cornwell and Eric Walls; one step- grandson, Blake Parker, one great- granddaughter, Taylor Walls; two nieces.

 

Preceding in death were his parents, one sister, Thelma Williams; one brother, John Curtis McCarty; one step-son Ricky Parker.

 

Services will be held, Saturday, November 29, 2014  at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Summerlin officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial     Gardens.    Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Masonic rites to be held at 7:00 p.m.
