Robert Colvin Turner, 89, of Paducah, KY, died Monday, September 26, 2016 at The Lakes of Paducah Assisted Living Community.
Mr. Turner was born in Ballard County where he was also a lifelong resident. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a T5. He retired from Martin Marietta where he also served as an EMT. Mr. Turner was a member of the Bandana United Methodist Church and was an avid UK basketball fan as well as a lifelong devoted fisherman. Mr. Turner was well known for his gardening skills, most notably his ability to grow and raise watermelon, cantaloupe and strawberries.
Mr. Turner is survived by one daughter, Donna Moss and husband Paul of West Paducah, KY; two sons, Gary Turner and wife Debbie of Metropolis, IL , Greg Turner and wife Beverly of Metropolis, IL; one sister, Roberta Ligon of Gilbertsville, KY; six grandchildren, Jared Moss, Darin Moss, Travis Moss, Bobby Turner, Matt Turner and Madisson Turner; and four great grandchildren, Kaleigh Moss, Jackson Moss, Tristan Turner and McKylah Turner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn “June” Moore Turner; parents, Guthrie and Margaret “Maggie” Colvin Turner; and two sisters, Rosella Thurman and Joan Lanier.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Kenny Locke officiating. Burial will follow at the LaCenter City Cemetery in LaCenter, KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
