Sam Osage Cain, 98, of Paducah, passed away at 5:53 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2018 at his home.

 

Sam was born in Marshall County on June 26, 1919 to John and Birder Cain. He was a 1939 graduate of Sharpe High School, and served his country in the South Pacific Theatre during WWII, in the KY 149th Infrantry of the U.S. Army. He married Vitrue Lyles on March 23, 1946 and was a 50 year member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He retired from GAF Chemicals Corporation.

 

Mr. Cain is survived by his wife of 72 years, Vitrue Louise Lyles Cain; his son Mark O. Cain, of Richmond, Virginia.

 

Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Cain and Birder Johnston Cain; his sister, Inell Cain Pace.

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Brittany Riddle officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Monday at the church.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Immanuel Baptist Church, 3465 Buckner Ln, Paducah, KY 42001, in memory of Sam.
