Sarah Cathryn (Clark) Shry, died on June 25, 2017at Parkview Nursing & Rehab in Paducah, KY.
Wife of the late Henry (Tony) Shry, Sarah was 98 years old when she passed. Born 11/07/1918 to Thomas and Sarah Clark in Wickliffe, KY, Sarah (or “Kay” as friends knew her) is survived by daughters Linda Proctor of Redding, CA; Betty Credit of Chico, CA; grandchildren Margo Scott of Durham, NC; Greta Proctor of Topanga, CA; Monika Crawford of New York, NY; and great-grandchild Hazel Crawford. There is a long list of nieces and nephews who will miss her ready smile and easy ways.
She is preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters: Ruth Fitzgerald, Martin Clark, Sue Cole, John Clark, Lola Clark, James Clark, Joe Clark, and twins Imogene Stepnicka/Christensen and Ruby Gilmour who all lived in Wickliffe, KY growing up.
Kay graduated from Tilghman High School in Paducah and Bowling Green Business University before moving to Chicago, IL where she met and married her husband. They had 59 happy years together until his death in 2006. They raised their family in that area and then spent their retirement years in Mtn. Home, AR. Kay always felt in her heart that the Paducah area was “home” and she returned here when widowed, living for 8 yrs at Jackson Oaks Retirement Center, then at Parkview Nursing since late 2014. Kay was known for her gentle nature, encouraging smiles and welcoming and heartfelt hospitality, making everyone feel at ease and included. She loved getting together with friends and family and loved playing Bingo where she almost always won a prize! Very lucky lady.
Burial will be at Wickliffe Cemetery on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:00 am..
