Sarah Josette Derrick, 23, of Paducah, went to rest with our Lord and instantly became healed on Friday evening, February 5th, 2016 at Lourdes Hospice Center of Paducah.

Sarah graduated from Heath High School in 2010 and was trumpet section leader in band while attending there, and was in the 4H club. Sarah went on to West Ky. Tech and earned an associate’s degree in Arts. She had a passion for music and anything about superheroes, especially Iron Man and Harry Potter. Sarah attended the Salvation Army Church and volunteered a lot there and at Community Kitchen in Paducah. She did get to make her “Wish” trip to Universal Theme Park in Orlando, getting to see the Harry Potter section of the park. Sarah loved camping and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Sarah is survived by her mom and Dad, Danny and Heather Cheek of Paducah; two brothers, Marcus and Matthew Derrick; one sister, Emily Derrick; one half-sister, Kelli Derrick of Lake Charles, La.; her maternal grandmother, Linda Oreskovich of Paducah; her maternal great grandmother, Maureen Swinford of Paducah; her paternal grandparents, Larry and Darlene Cheek of Ullin, Il., and Linda Derrick of Lake Charles, La.; a beloved niece and nephew, Liam Derrick and Saralynn Derrick of Paducah; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two uncles, Chris Swinford and Steve Swinford; one aunt, Rhonda Kindred; her paternal great grandparents, Bob and Ruth Cheek; and her Papaw, Calvin Derrick.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, February 8th, 2016 at The Salvation Army Church from 5pm until 8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 at the Salvation Army Church starting at 11am with Capt. Joe Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah, Ky.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tn.
