Shirley R. Tyler, age 83, of Paducah, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, 8:06 a.m., at her residence.
Shirley was a lifelong member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Addie Lucas Missionary Society and a youth leader. She had also worked with 4-H and the Girl Scouts.
She was a graduate of the former Lincoln High School and attended Wilberforce University.
She is survived by one son, Jason Tyler of Nashville, TN; three daughters, Cheryl Byrd of Nashville, TN, Julie McClellan of Austin, TX and Vickey Bolen of Sachse, TX; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Veronica Ming-Toy Parham of Paducah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Julius Tyler; her parents Buster Odell Hensley and Georgia Ellen Hensley Jamerson and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Benessa Sweat officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
