Thelma Cooper, age 96, of Paducah, formerly of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Thelma was born on July 27, 1923 in Brookport, Illinois to the late John and Lora Anderson Johnson. She loved to cook and bake pies. Thelma enjoyed spending time shopping, gardening and trips to the beach with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Powell, husband, John of Paducah; step-son, Bob Cooper of Marion, Illinois; two sisters, Lois Dowe of Bradenton, Florida and Alice McGuire of Paducah; two granddaughters, Shannon Clark, husband, Todd of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Nicole Pridemore, husband, Daniel of Paducah; four great-grandchildren, Hudson Clark, Ava Clark, Collins Pridemore and Wyatt Pridemore. A special thank you to lifelong friends Cindy Hogan, Juanita Grentzer and Irene Draffen.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Cooper; her parents; five sisters, Geneva Schneeman, Josephine Snyder, Helen Thompson, Louise Hall, Dorothy Maupin; three brothers, Mitchell Johnson, Billy Jean Johnson, Bobby Joe Johnson; and step-son, Billy Cooper.
A graveside service for Thelma will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Massac Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Cooper officiating.
