Virginia Hale Glover, 92, of Paducah, KY passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her residence.  Virginia was a member, Elder, historian and volunteer at First Presbyterian Church of Paducah for 49 years.

 

She was born in Glendale, Arizona to Harold and Flora Champion Hale, but returned early in her life to Smithland where her parents first ran Peoples Café’ then later Hales Hotel and Restaurant. She was involved with the restaurant until it was sold in 1969. Virginia and her husband Joe were very active with Market House Theatre in its formative years. She volunteered and served as Treasurer. Her love of music was instrumental in her work with the Community Concert Association.

 

Virginia and Joe owned Melody and Art Mart and later West Kentucky Ceramics and Crafts Center. Joe’s love of ceramics and Virginia’s love of decoupage took them all over the country and they made friends everywhere they went. Virginia was a master decoupeur  and a member of the National Guild of Decoupeurs.

 

She is survived by her children, Sharon Barnes and husband James Michael of Paducah, KY, Maggie Troutman of Nashville, TN, Marcie Troutman of Punta Gorda, FL, and step-son Tom Troutman and wife Martha of Paducah, KY. Grandchildren, Gretchen Barnette of Paducah, KY and Heather Hulse and husband Bryan of Nashville, TN. Great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, and Andrew Barnette and Ramey and Ellery Hulse. Three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

 

Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Jacob Ewing Ramey and Joseph Otis Glover and her parents, Harold and Flora Champion Hale.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at the Smithland Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lynn Shurley officiating with visitation to follow in Memorial Hall.
