Zachary Paul HarperZachary Paul Harper, 25, of Scottsbluff, NE, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, while receiving treatment at Anschutz Medical Campus-University of Colorado, located in Aurora, CO.

 

Zachary was born on April 5, 1989 in Paducah, KY.  He attended Heath High School and graduated in the spring of 2007.  Zachary was passionate for the sport of soccer.  He was a member of several Kentucky competitive and school teams, which he enjoyed for 12 years of his life.  He received multiple team and individual awards, including district and regional championships, and competitive MVP awards.  Zachary loved to work with the public, so it was only natural that he chose a career which accommodated that desire.  He was the Sales Manager for the family-owned business, Resistant Roofs, during the past 5 yrs.  Zachary would often provide free services to the elderly and less fortunate residents throughout western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming.  Zachary attended “The Rock” church in Scottsbluff, NE, and was baptized in the summer of 2013.

 

Zachary is survived by his parents, Paul and Melinda Harper of Gering, NE; sister, Audrey Harper of Scottsbluff, NE; grandparents, Norman Harper of Vienna, IL, Jerry and Cathy Mullen of Paducah, KY; aunts and uncles, Cherie and Daren Duby of Lexington, KY; cousins, Jake and Luke Duby of Lexington, KY, Grant, Lindsay, Gage, Brody, Anthony, and Harper Gamster all of Paducah, KY; Zoey, Zach’s beloved canine companion.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carmen Harper of Vienna, IL; aunt and uncle, Suzanne and Scott Gamster, Marion, IL.

 

A celebration of life services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor Alan Strong officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour of 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Reynoldsburg Church Cemetery, near Tunnel Hill, IL.
