The shooting took place in June of 2019 at a duplex on West Lee Street, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Savannah Hancock. Hancock suffered a gunshot wound to her neck and died three days later at an Evansville hospital.

Two others were charged in the fatal drive-by. Thirty-year-old Stanford Shelton and 26-year-old Hayden Dunigan. Earlier this year, Dunigan pleaded guilty to facilitation to murder, a class D felony, and was sentenced to five years in prison. Shelton is charged with murder and is awaiting trial.
