The Paducah Chiefs built an early lead but couldn't make it hold up in a 9-4 loss to Dubois County Wednesday night at Brooks Stadium.

A Nick Shumaker RBI single and a Travis Regaldo 2-run home run put the Chiefs up 3-0 after the 1st inning. The Bombers answered with one run in the 2nd inning, one run in the 3rd inning and two more runs in the 5th. They put the game away with a 4-run 9th inning.

Brandon Kelly and Tate Mathis led the Chiefs with two hits a piece. Shumaker and Keaton Rice each had an RBI. Zach Gray and Brandon Smith each had two hits for Dubois County.

Tyler Hagedorn picked up the win for the Bombers. He went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts. Jay Benard took the loss. He surrendered 5 runs on 9 hits with 1 strikeout.

The Chiefs (7-11) host Madisonville (8-10) tonight at Brooks Stadium. Muhlenberg will be in town Sunday night.

All Chiefs home games start at 6:30. Tickets are only five dollars, and chair seats for ten dollars.
