MAYFIELD, KY - Mid-Continent University’s Chris Ferguson has earned the opportunity to continue his basketball career. Ferguson, who completed his senior season as a Cougar in March, has signed a contract to play for RBC Verviers-Pepinster, a professional team in the top-division of Belgian professional basketball.
“We are very excited to see one of our own sign to play oversees,” said coach Winston Bennett. “Chris is a tremendous talent, and I know he will be a great asset to his new club. We wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his dream of being a professional basketball player.”
Ferguson is coming off a season in which he earned his second consecutive TranSouth Defensive Player of the Year Award, despite only playing in 19 games. He averaged 13.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a senior for the Cougars, leading Mid-Continent to its first ever TranSouth Athletic Conference Championship Game appearance.
“Mid-Continent brought the best out of me, in life and on the Court,” said Ferguson. “I am going to miss it, but I thank God every day for giving me this opportunity. I’m excited to get to play professionally. I have an opportunity to play, and now I have to make the best of this chance.”
