The University of Louisville and UCF have agreed to a two-year home-and-home football series to be played in 2021 and 2022, Interim Athletic Director Vince Tyra announced on Monday.

The Cardinals will play host to the Knights in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021, and will travel to Orlando on Sept. 17, 2022 to complete the series.

Louisville and UCF, former conference members, have met two times on the gridiron, with the series tied at 1-1. The two schools were together in the American Athletic Conference for one season in 2013, with the Knights knocking off the Cardinals 38-35 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The Cardinals defeated the Knights 42-21 in the first meeting between the two schools on Nov. 2, 1985 at Cardinal Stadium.

The Knights finished the 2017 season 13-0, which was capped off with a 34-27 win over No. 7 Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

Head coach Bobby Petrino has yet to face the Knights during his coaching career.
