MSU's Smith to Miss Rest of Season With Injury
By MSU Athletics
MURRAY - Murray State head men's basketball
coach Matt McMahon announced senior Anthony Smith will be sidelined
for the rest of the 2018-19 season after suffering an ankle injury
that will require season-ending surgery.
"This is heartbreaking news for
Anthony," McMahon said. "He is a tough competitor with a
tremendous work ethic. Anthony is a team captain, a leader, and a
winner. As we move forward with the season, he will continue to fill
those roles for our team. I look forward to him making a full
recovery in the spring as his future is incredibly bright."
Through five games of the 2018-19
season, Smith was a starter in all five and was averaging 7.6 points
per game and was leading the team with 16 offensive rebounds.
The Racers return to action Saturday at
Middle Tennessee in a 7 p.m. tip at the Murphy Center in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
