Murray State sophomore Ja Morant was among list of 30 student-athletes on the 2019 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Morant, out of Dalzell, S.C., adds the Naismith Trophy to a growing list of midseason honors that have been given to him including the John Wooden, Oscar Robertson, Lou Henson and Lute Olsen awards.

In only 54 career games, Morant has 955 points and 436 assists and this season is first in the nation with 10.2 assists per game and 10th with 23.9 points per game. Morant continues his run to become the first NCAA
D-I player since 1985 to average 20 points and 10 assists in a single season.

Morant has 19 games of 20-plus scoring and 15 double-double games this season and one triple-double.

The Naismith list will narrow even further to 10 national semifinalists on March 4. The list is cut to four names on March 19, and fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite player leading up to the final announcement. The 2019 Naismith Trophy will be awarded April 7 during the Final Four in Minneapolis.

Named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball, the family of Naismith Awards annually recognizes the most outstanding men's and women's college and high school basketball players and coaches.
