MURRAY, KY - Murray State senior quarterback Casey Brockman added another preseason honor Monday when he was named to The Sports Network Preseason All-America Second Team.
The honor is the third this preseason for Brockman, who was named a preseason First-Team All-American by Lindy’s Magazine and Beyond Sports College Network.
Brockman (Murray, KY) enters his second season as the Racers starting quarterback, and is already ranked among the all-time great signal callers in school history. The former walk-on is poised to become the school’s all-time leader in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns.
Brockman is coming off a season in which he went 316-for-477 for 3,276 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for 211 yards and four touchdowns, while catching a pair of touchdown passes.
Just one year after throwing for 570 yards and seven touchdowns in a victory over Missouri State, Brockman thrilled the home crowd by throwing for 600 yards and seven touchdowns in a victory over Tennessee State. He also found time to catch a 15-yard touchdown pass in that game. His 422 passing yards in the first half established a new FCS record, while he became just the fifth player in FCS history to pass for 600 yards in a game.
The Racers open the 2012 season Sept. 1 when they travel to face Florida State. Kickoff is set for 5 pm and can be seen live on ESPN3.
