Class 3A, District 1 Football Preview
By Brian York
WESTERN KENTUCKY - Paducah Tilghman
It has now been three years since the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado won the Class 3A state title, but that improbable playoff run resurrected what had been an otherwise average program the two years before.

In 2007 Tilghman posted a 9-4 record and went deep into the state playoff's losing in the semifinals. The next year Tilghman limped to a 2-8 record, failing to make the playoffs.

Then in 2009 Tilghman improved to four wins, but it was enough to make the post-season and make an historic run, turning a losing season into a state championship.

Since then Tilghman has been a dominating program going 21-6 over the last two seasons and making deep runs in the playoffs.

The Blue Tornado will return both leading rushers from a year ago in James Hill and Trevante Coleman. Hill led the team in rushing with 423 yards and six touchdowns, Coleman with 374 yards and four touchdowns.

Tilghman will open the season on the road at Lone Oak on Saturday at 7:30 pm. Other schedule highlights include an away game with Mayfield on August 31, a home game with Graves County September 7 and an away date with Fort Campbell on October 5.
