Graves County High School student-athletes Samantha Clymer and Callie Jo Thomas recently signed national letters of intent to play soccer at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Both were four-year members of the Lady Eagles soccer team and finished their senior seasons as members of the team that finished as First Region runners-up.

Clymer is the daughter of Joe and Bonnie Clymer of Mayfield. She played forward and midfielder for the Lady Eagles and scored 13 goals this past season. First Region coaches voted her to the All-Region First Team. She has been an integral part of the program since her freshmen year, according to Graves County athletic director Khristain Elliott.

“Clymer is not only a great soccer player, but a great kid,” he said. “UT Martin is getting a 4.0 student who we know will represent Graves County High School proudly at the next level!”

Thomas is the daughter of Mike and Sandra Thomas of Mayfield. She has been the Lady Eagles’ goalkeeper since her sophomore year, when she took over for her older sister, Katie Thomas, upon Katie’s graduation. Callie Jo Thomas recorded five shutouts in her senior year, bringing her career total to 17. She was named to the All-Region Second Team.

“The Thomas family has produced three Lady Eagles,” Elliott said. “Callie took over right where Katie left off and was an anchor on our soccer team. I believe her effort and ability will be recognized early and highly welcomed at the next level!”
