It appears there will be high school sports this fall in Kentucky.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Board of Control on Tuesday approved start dates for all fall sports.

The first official football games will start Sept. 11 with the first date of official practice on Aug. 24. The regular season will be nine weeks long. The first round of the football playoffs will be Nov. 13 and 14. The state championship games will be held Dec. 11 and 12.

The start date for competition in cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball is Sept. 7. Teams can start practicing Aug. 24, but are limited to six hours the first week. The postseason in soccer will start Oct. 12, condensing the first three rounds into two weeks. The postseason dates for cross country, field hockey and volleyball did not change.

The start date for competitive cheer and dance is Aug. 24. The board strongly recommended that all activity be held outdoors where safety equipment and conditions will permit.
