Murray Boys, Girls Finish 2nd at State Track Meet

Murray's boys and girls both finished second at the Kentucky Class A track and field state championship meet Saturday at the University of Kentucky outdoor track facility. The Tigers finished behind Bishop Brossart 70-60, while the Lady Tigers were edged out by St. Henry 91-90.

Fulton County's boys finished 12th and Mayfield's boys placed 17th.

Individually, Murray brought home several state titles. Murray's team of Linda Arakelyan, Rachel McDonald, Liz Armstrong and Ann Taylor won the girls 4x200 meter relay. Arakelyan, McDonald, Taylor and Yasmine Homa won the girls 4x100 meter relay.

Murray's team of Malik Britt, JD Cashion, Robert Harvey and Des'jahvonni Miles won the boys 4x200 meter relay and the boys 4x100.

Miles won the boys 200 meter dash. Murray's Sarah McDowell placed 1st in the girls discus, and Murray's Gracie Campbell won the girls long jump and high jump.

Campbell and Miles were named the Female and Male Athletes of the Meet.

 

Here are some other highlights from Saturday's meet.

Murray's team of Neely Gibson, Bethany Vogt, Claire Wilson and Sydney Vogt finished 17th in the Girls 4x800 Meter Relay. In the Boys 4x800 Meter Relay, Mayfield's team of Artey Kirby, Roberto Mateo, Onajia Stubblefield and Hunter Williams finished 20th.

Murray's Campbell Homa placed 12th in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles. Murray's Tyshea Allen placed 22nd. In the Boys 100 Meter Hurdles, Murray's Malik Britt finished 5th. Jordan Boyd of Murray placed 18th.

In the Girls 100 Meter Dash, Murray's Ann Taylor finished 5th. Murray's Linda Arakelyan placed 8th and Mayfield's Meagan McClure finished 17th. Murray's Des'jahvonni Miles finished 5th in the Boys 100 Meter Dash. Mayfield's Trajon Bright finished 11th and Fulton County's Aaron Allen finished 17th.

In the Boys 4x200 Meter Relay, Fulton County's team of Aaron Allen, Joe Holman, Steven Roberson and Dre Smith finished 5th. Mayfield's team of Trajon Bright, Travon Coney, Keelan Murphy and Colby Tucker placed 8th. Ballard Memorial's team of Devin Bledsoe, Dre Bledso, Steven McGowan and Cash Owsley finished 11th.

Crittenden County's Margaret Sitar finished 19th in the Girls 1,600 Meter Run. In the Boys 1,600 Meter Run, Murray's Cyrus Nabari finished 20th and Crittenden County's Aaron Lucas finished 21st.

In the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay, Fulton County's team of Akilias Abbott, Aarron Allen, Joe Holman and Steven Roberson finished 5th. Ballard Memorial's team of Devyn Bledsoe, Steven McGowan, Jabarie Bledsoe and Cash Owsley placed 8th and Mayfield's team of Trajon Bright, Travon Conley, Keelan Murphey and Colby Tucker finished 22nd.

In the Girls 400 Meter Dash, Kylira Williams of Fulton County finished 13th. Livingston Central's Laken Givens finished 20th. Mayfield's Keelan Murphy finished 7th in the Boys 400 Meter Dash.

In the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles, Murray's Grace Campbell finished 2nd, Ballard Memorial's Erin Young 7th and Murray's Tyshea Allen 19th. Murray's Malik Britt finished 4th and Livingston Central's Chase Cooper 18th in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles.

In the Girls 800 Meter Run, Olivia Butterworth of Murray finished 8th. Lyon County's Phoebe McLaughlin finished 23rd. Lyon County's Jake Cannon finished 11th in the Boys 800 Meter Run.

In the Girls 200 Meter Dash, Murray's Linda Arakelyan finished 3rd. Teammate Ann Taylor finished 8th. In the Boys 200 Meter Dash, Fulton County's Joe Holman finished 3rd and Murray's Robert Harvey finished 18th.

In the Girls 3,200 Meter Run, Murray's Kenzley Sparks finished 21st. Teammate Liza Burlutska placed 24th. Crittenden County's Aaron Lucas placed 17th in the Boys 3,200 Meter Run. Murray's Charlie Gannon finished 22nd.

In the Girls 4x400 Meter Relay, Murray's team of Rachel McDonald, Olivia Butterworth, Claire Wilson and Grace Campbell finished 4th. Murray's team of Robert Harvey, Adam Lamkin, Abongo Adongo and JD Cashion finished 4th in the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay. Mayfield team of Derion Grey, Artey Kirby, Keelan Murphy and Onajia Stubblefield finished 8th.

Murray's Sarah McDowell finished 2nd in the Girls Shot Put. Fulton County's Leah Weatherly finished 17th. Murray's Dante Darcus finished 8th in the Boys Shot Put. Murray's RJ Daniels finished 11th. Mayfield's Kel Carmen finished 13th and teammate Cole Kendall finished 17th.

In the Girls Discus Throw, Fulton County's Leah Weatherly finished 13th while Murray's McKenna Bruce finished 18th. In the Boys Discus Throw, Dante Darcus of Murray finished 2nd. Mayfield's Cole Kendall finished 3rd.

In the Girls Long Jump, Murray's Yasmine Homa finished 10th. Fulton County's Steven Roberson finished 3rd in the Boys Long Jump.

In the Girls Triple Jump, Mayfield's Jaden Whitehead finished 6th. Murray's Annie Futrell finished 9th. Mayfield's Travon Coney finished 5th in the Boys Triple Jump. Jabarie Bledsoe of Ballard Memorial finished 9th and Fulton County's Dre Smith finished 11th.

In the Girls High Jump, Mallory Woolridge finished 13th. Fulton County's Steven Roberson finished 7th in the Boys High Jump. Murray's Jonathan Hilbrecht finished 10th.

In the Girls Pole Vault, Yasmine Homa of Murray finished 3rd. Teeamate Annie Futrell finished 10th. Murray's Tommy Speed finished 6th in the Boys Pole Vault.
