The 2014 edition of the Crosstown Classic between the Murray High Tigers and the Calloway County Lakers was brought to you by the number 37.

The game, which as always took place at Murray State’s Roy Stewart Stadium, saw the Tigers taking home the traveling trophy after a 37-0 victory.

Of those 37-points Henry Country senior transfer Keshon Love, who wears the #37, was responsible for 18 of them scoring a touchdown on three sides of the ball, in just the first half of play.

Love’s first score came when he returned a Calloway punt 60 yards for a touchdown with 1:33 left in the first quarter.  Just a few minutes later it was Love again finding the end-zone  when he intercepted Calloway Quarterback Brady Shaaf’s pass and took the ball 38 yards for the score.

And with just  :50 left in the first half Love gave the Tigers their 23-0 halftime lead when he caught junior, quarterback Desjahvonni Miles’ pass, carrying it 38 yards for the score.

As for the Lakers, who moved the ball effectively on the ground in the first half, struggled trying to get their passing game moving. The Laker offensive line was no match for the Tiger defense who brought Shaaf to the turf six times in the game and even racked up a safety.

The second half started in the same manner as the second quarter, with a Tiger touchdown, this time it was Miles who kept the ball himself and ran it 52 yards for the touchdown.  Murray’s final score came when Miles found junior wide receiver, Peyton Glynn in the end-zone with 7:40 left in the game.

Up next for the 2-0 Tigers will be the Graves County Eagles, while the Lakers, now 0-1 will square off against Hopkinsville.
