A rare occurrence in high school football today as McCracken County and Paducah Tilghman met up at Tilghman’s McRight Field on a Sunday. The nostalgia of a Sunday game was noticeable in pregame festivities, but once the game started, McCracken County quickly took care of Paducah Tilghman in grand fashion, winning 41-6.

The Mustangs wasted no time out of the gates as McCracken quarterback Cash Jones found junior Lawson Parrish in the right side of the end zone on their first possession of the game. Then, just three minutes later, Jones connected with senior Dalton Lanphere for a 20-yard touchdown making it 14-0 and the Mustangs never looked back.

On the next series for McCracken County, the Mustangs marched down field and Jones finished the drive himself, scampering 1 yard into the endzone to make it 21-0 McCracken County to end the 1st quarter.

Transfer junior running back TaeShawn Allen made his presence known in the 2nd quarter for McCracken County as he broke a 46-yard touchdown run to make it a 28-0 McCracken lead. On the very next drive, Jones found Lawson Parrish one more time, this time on a 34-yard touchdown strike making it 35-0 in the 2nd quarter.

The Mustangs finished the first half scoring barrage as Jones found Dalton Lanphere for a 9-yard touchdown strike, making it 41-0 McCracken County and forcing a running clock situation in the first half.

Senior quarterback Cash Jones finished the game for McCracken County going 17-for-21 passing with 231 yards and four touchdowns. Lawson Parrish brought in six catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns. And TaeShawn Allen had six carries for 72 yards and a touchdown for the Mustangs.

McCracken County dominated on both sides of the football, outgaining Paducah Tilghman 403 yards to 162 yards. McCracken County head coach Shawn Jackson praised his team’s focus in his postgame radio interview on 99.5FM The Fan.

“Our focus today was tremendous,” Jackson said. “Our bus ride over here was quiet. We left the school and it was business as usual all the way to Tilghman.”

Both teams play on the road next week as McCracken County travels to Warren Central and Paducah Tilghman travels to Central Hardin.
