Thomas and his wife posted messages on social media Wednesday afternoon announcing the hiring.
Paducah Public Schools has not issued a press release, but more details will follow.
Thomas replaces Brad Stieg, who resigned in June after 14 years as head boys coach. Stieg took a position as assistant principal at Tilghman's "Choices" alternative school.
Thomas was one of Stieg's assistants last year. Prior to that, Thomas served as Tilghman's girls' head coach for four seasons, leading them to a 105-25 record.
