Paducah Tilghman High School kicker Miles Butler committed to the University of Kentucky as a preferred walk-on in a signing ceremony at PTHS on May 28.

Butler finished his career as a kicker with 212 points, the most in PTHS history. He also holds the record for the longest field goal at 49 yards. In addition to playing football, Butler was a varsity starter in soccer and a pitcher/utility player in baseball. He has a 4.0 + GPA, was named Mr. Tilghman, and was selected as the Paducah Sun Teen of the year for 2013-14.

"As a UK alumnus, I'm happy to see Miles going to the University of Kentucky," said former head football coach Randy Wyatt. "There are two former Tilghman athletes there (Josh Forrest and J.D. Harmon) so it's great that they will be there for him to look to for advice and guidance. With the great family support he has, he was raised right and will do right at the University of Kentucky."

Butler had intended to attend the University of Alabama as a walk-on, but was happy to switch to the University of Kentucky when they offered him a guaranteed spot on the roster as preferred walk-on. He expects to be red-shirted his freshman year, then will have an opportunity to secure an athletic scholarship if he performs well.

"With the academic and athletic reputation that the University of Kentucky has, I couldn't pass up this opportunity," said Butler. "To be able to play in the SEC is a great honor. I'm very blessed to have had the opportunity to kick for Paducah Tilghman football. I want to thank Coach Wyatt, the coaching staff, and especially my holders, Aaron Armstrong and Elliot Bickerstaff. They don't get much recognition, but they were essential to whatever success I've had as a kicker."
