MSU's Love Advances To 200 Semifinals

EUGENE, OR - Murray State sprinter Alexis Love started her second run in her attempt the make the London Olympics when she advanced to the 200 meter semifinals at the USA Olympic Track & Field Trials Thursday evening at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
On another rainy and cold evening in Oregon, Love ran from the inside lane three in the first heat and advanced to the semifinals with a run of 23.15, which was just off her Murray State/Ohio Valley Conference record of 23.08.
Love finished fourth in her heat and had to wait through five more heats to see if she advanced by having one of the next three fastest times in the six heats of those finished outside the top-3 in each heat.
“I am just speechless,” Love said minutes after learning she was into the next round. “I just want another chance to run here and now I get to do that!”
“I’m so excited for Alexis and I can’t wait to see what happens Friday,” MSU Head Coach Jenny Severns said. “She just gave herself another opportunity to run fast.”
The semifinals begin at 5 pm CT in Eugene on Friday.
Tianna Madison had the top time with a 22.57, while Carmelita Jeter was second at 22.63. Sanya Richards-Ross was third at 22.67.
