Murray Special Olympics Offer Fall Soccer, Bowling

The Murray Special Olympics delegation is beginning its Special Olympics Kentucky fall sports season. This year, in addition to bowling, the Murray Special Olympics delegation will now offer Soccer in Calloway County for children and adults ages eight years and older who have intellectual disabilities. Soccer is a Special Olympics sport that runs from September through November. All area Special Olympics athletes are invited to attend an informational meeting and sign up at 5:30 pm on Thursday, Aug. 21st at Murray’s Central Parks Courthouse Pavilion. Beginners and experienced players are welcome.

Athletes and Unified Partners* will also be able to sign up for bowling on August 21st. Bowling season runs from September through December. Athletes are able to compete in singles, doubles or unified* divisions. Ramp bowling is available for those athletes with physical limitations.

Special Olympics is the world’s largest program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  Participation is open to all individuals eight years of age or older.  Training and competition in local, area, state, and national programs is offered year-round in 15 sports. 

*Unified Partners are non-disabled peers who partner with Special Olympics athletes in sports training and competition.
